Consultants

Our Consultants support the teaching school by providing valuable knowledge and expertise to support head teachers, early years leaders and school support with bespoke training.

Jane Byrne

Jane Byrne leads on our Head’s Early Years Forums and Early Year’s Leaders Forum’s, three times a year.  Jane is a retired Head teacher from an Ofsted outstanding primary school.

Karen James

Karen recently retired after 12 successful years as head teacher of Ludwick Nursery School, securing 4 outstanding Ofsted inspection judgements for the school and Head of Acorns Teaching School Alliance. Karen is currently the Strategic Lead for Acorns TSA and responsible for project management and future initiatives; advising on all aspects of Teaching School responsibilities.

Zoe Akers

Zoe Akers starting teaching in 1989 and has taught from Nursery to year 6 in Islington and Hertfordshire. Zoe’s main interest has always been in the teaching and learning of mathematics. She completed the MaST programme with Hertfordshire University along side gaining her Masters in Education; her main focus being to research Mastery in maths.

In the last few years, Zoe has been fortunate enough to be part of many projects for Matrix math Hub. Since qualifying to be a Primary Mastery Specialist, Zoe has had the privileged to develop work groups and offer CPD. Zoe is often asked about how to develop Teaching for Mastery in EYFS and has done much research within this. Zoe strongly believes collaboration and sharing great practice amongst our talented teachers is key to developing positive attitudes and ensure improved outcomes for all our children.

Catherine Croft

Catherine recently retired after many years of working in early years and 7 years as head teacher at Arlesdene Nursery School and Pre-school. During her time at Arlesdene Ofsted judged the school to be outstanding.

Catherine now works part time for Acorns TSA where she has been part of the successful Communicate to Succeed project and led training for the Initial Teacher Training programme. Her specialisms include Communication and Language, Literacy, supporting leaders and developing partnerships with parents.
